COLUMBUS, Ohio—The White House released the President Obama’s speech to students, one day before the actual address.

You can see the full text of President Obama’s speech to American students at http://www.whitehouse.gov/MediaResources/PreparedSchoolRemarks/

The speech has created controversy nationwide, with some Central Ohio school districts initially refusing to show the speech in school.  The event is scheduled for Noon Tuesday.

Dublin City Schools will allow students to watch the speech if they have a note from a parent giving permission.

Hilliard City Schools will also allow students to watch live.  Both districts will have alternate activities for students who choose not to watch.

Hilliard parent Jason Ross read the text and says he doesn’t see anything wrong with it.  He says President Bush probably received similar criticism from Democrats when he spoke to students.

President George H.W. Bush spoke to students live from a Washington, DC school in 1991.

Ebony Johnson says she wants her daughter to watch the speech in her Columbus school.  She especially likes the part where the President says, “You’ll need the knowledge and problem-solving skills you learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and protect our environment.“

Tuesday, the speech will stream live at http://www.whitehouse.gov/live

Certainly no one should object if the speech is apolitical. The problem is that this president is not apolitical about anything. Obviously, he would have done better to take some of his own advice and pay attention in school. How else can someone explain his total lack of understanding of economics and his belief that you can add 50 million uninsured people to the system without running up the huge deficit any higher or can afford to give all this health care without rationing. Even stranger, the president accuses people of lying for bringing up this very simple fact. Strange how when you point out things to people they don’t want to hear, they accuse you of lying. Truth be told, I don’t want any politician giving speeches to school children.

this is just ridiculous, the furor over a president wanting to wish students do well and pay attention and work hard in class. idiots.

obama at least went to school and paid attention and made something of himself instead of bush who was handed everything plus a get out of vietnam card on a silver platter and then was able to become our stupidest president to date.

oh please, neither party has any decency or room to talk.  Look it up, Google is a wonderful thing:

The sooner people realize that the Democrats suck and the Republicans suck, we can move on and really start to take care of the country properly.

No, he did not receive any criticism.  Democrats at least have that much respect for the office of the President of the United States.
