COLUMBUS, Ohio—NBC 4 has obtained a report from the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission which breaks down the most deadly and dangerous intersections in Central Ohio.

According to MORPC, the most dangerous intersection in Central Ohio sits on the northeast side of Columbus.

Transportation experts say Cleveland Avenue and Morse Road is the worst intersection in Columbus, with 357 accidents between 2005 and 2007.

A total of two people died as a result of car accidents in the intersection along with a number of injury accidents.

The City of Columbus is well aware of the issues facing this stretch of roadway and is currently in phase two of a project that will widen and add lanes to alleviate the problem spots.

The second worst intersection in Columbus is Hamilton Road and Livingston Avenue. There were 176 accidents in the intersection between 2005 and 2007.

One Central Ohio motorist we spoke to says speed is the issue, adding, “they might need to lower the speed limit, because there’s a lot of people speeding through this area.“

Coming in third as the worst intersection in Central Ohio is that of Chatterton, Refugee and Noe Bixby roads. Between 2005 and 2007, there were 194 crashes at the location.

Currently, the Franklin County Engineer’s Office is waiting on funding to take care of problem spots in the intersection.
