CENTRAL OHIO—American Electric Power wanted to spread the word about its Neighbor to Neighbor program.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

The program gives families who are struggling to pay their electric a helping hand.

Eligible AEP customers receive a utility assistance grant applied directly to their AEP Ohio bill to help maintain or restore basic electric service.

The best way to start seeking help is by calling AEP Ohio. Call the number on your electric bill.

AEP Ohio will provide you with information on a number of different assistance programs that are available to help low-income utility customers.

There are program guidelines. Click here to read the program guidelines that determine eligibility.

Customers also can help fund the program by adding an extra dollar to their monthly AEP bill or at http://www.dollarenergyfund.org.

AEP just needs to lower their rates and help everyone and not a selected few.

McQuest.. actually it says you must have a balance of greater than $100.  You might want to consider re-taking that finance class.

what a croc. If your income qualifies you still cannot have a past due balance of more than $100.00.
If you don’t have a past due balance than you obviously CAN afford your electric and shouldn’t need the relief. Makes no sense. AEP is clowns.
