Blighted Home To Be Demolished

COLUMBUS, Ohio—One of the worst blighted homes in Franklin County will be torn down this month.

Last July, NBC 4 reported on the blighted home. Franklin county and the township had tried numerous times to get possession of the property and with the extended court proceedings, demolish it.

Rachel Burwell had been a neighbor to the home for most of her life. She remembers when it was built, but she wanted to see it destroyed. Within the next two weeks, near Burwell’s 100th birthday, the home will be demolished.

Burwell isn’t the only neighbor who is pleased with the news.

“It will be pleasant to look across the street and not see that eyesore type of deal standing there,“ said Holly Ollerdisse, an area resident.

Blendon Township officials posted a notice to the owner, Ronald Bostic, stating that he had until July 26 to either tear down the home or improve it.

The county attempted to contact Bostic for years to no avail.

Blendon Township said the wrecking ball will come to the home on Kilbourne Avenue on Oct. 26.
