Chase Through North Columbus Ends In Crash

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A man refused to stop for police Friday, leading them on a vehicle chase through north Columbus.

The incident happened after 6:00 pm in the area of the Northern Lights Shopping Center on Cleveland Avenue.

According to police, officers were responding to a report of an accident.  A man driving a black Dodge pickup truck, reportedly involved in the accident, refused to stop for Clinton Township Police.

Clinton Township PD and Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued the truck.  Columbus Police aided in the pursuit.

The chase began in the Northern Lights Shopping Center area, moved through residential streets, including Oakland Park Avenue and East North Broadway Street.  The pursuit continued for a short time on I-71 onto Morse Road and then onto more residential streets.

Police deployed stop-sticks, but the suspect vehicle continued on.

The chase ended at Oakland Park and Maize Road where the suspect crashed his vehicle into a pole.

The suspect received treatment from his injuries at the scene.  No other injuries were reported from the incident.
