COLUMBUS, Ohio—A controversy continues for the Franklin County Dog Shelter as investigators continue to examine the actions of two administrators.

Director Lisa Wahoff and Assistant Director Craig Turk have been on paid leave for nearly two weeks, NBC 4‘s Marcus Thorpe reported.

The Franklin County Commissioners were unable to comment Thursday, but issued a statement instead, saying, “Franklin County has acted to retain a consultant for internal management review. An additional consulting firm will be hired for external quality review and recommendation of national best practices.“

Thorpe obtained a copy of the contract between Franklin County Commissioners and Bernardini Consulting Services.

The group will be paid up to $7,500 for approximately a month and a half of work and will be responsible for interviewing multiple employees at the Franklin County Department of Animal Care and Control.

The commissioners said they want to know about operations, policies and procedures and communications.
