COSI Celebrates One-Millionth Camper

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Last night Columbus Troop 1031 learned that one of their scouts is the one-millionth overnight camper at the museum.  COSI is the only science center in the world that can now make that claim.  The Overnight Program began 37 years ago in 1972 as a collaboration between COSI and The Girl Scouts as a way to introduce more girls to science.  Since then, other museums have followed COSI’s lead in introducing their own sleepover programs.

The Overnight Program began by focusing on girl scouts and became a rite of passage for scouts.  The program has since expanded to include boys and groups of any size.  The museum now hosts up to 15,000 overnight campers a year.
