3 Injured In Early Morning Crash
PLAIN CITY, Ohio –The Marysville Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is currently investigating a 2-vehicle crash that occurred early Monday morning on U.S. 42 in Plain City. Reader Reactions
There is nothing wrong with us wanting professional writing and accuracy in our news stories. Unfortunately today everyone wants to use shortcuts in their writings, just like kids do in texting. But even worse than that the reporters are doing a half baked job on the actual reporting. We as readers/watchers are directly and indirectly responsible for paying their wages either through buying advertised items or buying newspapers. Therefore we are their employers and should be able to expect a job well done. In high school (25 years ago….)I took BOE classes, (Business Office Education). One of the weekly assignments, to teach us how NOT to write, was to ‘proof’ the Sunday Dispatch and find as many mistakes as we could! So, unfortunately this is nothing new, but it does seem to be getting worse!
Mickey 4, thank you. You’ve said what I wanted to say but I wasn’t articulate enough. I also have grave doubts about these people being the “friends” or “relatives” they claim to be. I’ve seen a sudden incidence of this in response to many news stories, and of course there’s no way to prove or disprove their claims. At any rate, we are here to discuss news stories and not to form a support group.
With all due respect to those injured in this crash, when did nbc4i.com become the place for grieving loved ones to come and ridicule the public for discussing news stories of the day?
Hate to see this kid’s parents inurance rates after they pay for the wall and a fully equipped police car.
Give him another sports car !!!!!!
And I bet they run right out and get him another car right away because he will whine if they don’t.
Accuracy matters!
How is it inappropriate for Max to comment on a mistake in the title yet entirely appropriate for you to comment on a mistake in the article?
Max, oh Max, how dare you notice something like this and comment on it? Isn’t it too bad that the perception of the obvious is often taken as a display of “wit” or “sarcasm?“ To the others - this is a written news story. It is entirely appropriate to comment on the form of the story. It is not appropriate to expect readers to share condolences and be all reverent because you might have known someone involved in the story. If you want hugs, you can get them elsewhere. This is a place to comment on the story. And yes, it is fine to note that the headline reads like it was written by a dyslexic third-grader.
MaxRFB, This story really isn’t the place for sarcastic remarks. If you really are that unpleased with Ms. Hissong’s writing, there is a link at the bottom of the page to fill out an application. The woman is just trying to do her job. Give her a break!
MaxRFB,
I know you’re eager to demonstrate your wit, but I can hardly see how gramatical error in the title is relevant to the overall story. This story happens to concern one of my friends and I take your comment as extremely disrespectful for all intents and purposes.
As for the story itself, the officers walked away from the scene. They weren’t seen at a hospital. According to other news sources, Tyler was transported to Dublin Methodist and air lifted from there to Grant.
OK. I realize it’s a day off for most folks, but somebody must be working to post these stories.
And somebody must be writing the headlines.
I guess the proofreader is the one with the day off.
“Crash injures three in early morning crash”
sigh.
