COLUMBUS, Ohio—Sheriff’s deputies asked for your help to locate a suspect whom deputies said fled from authorities after a failed traffic stop.

NBC 4’s Matt Alvarez reported with the FAST FACTS.

At 7:56 a.m. Friday, a Franklin County deputy tried to pull over a suspect on Norton Road outside of a school on the city’s Southwest Side.

According to Deputy Joe Schluer, the vehicle was going 38 mph in a 20-mph school zone.

The suspect fled the scene and led deputies on an eight-minute high-speed pursuit, authorities said.

According to deputies, the suspect was traveling in excess of 100 mph.

Deputies backed off towards the end of the chase to ensure the safety of other motorists and students at bus stops.

The suspect is a male white who was wearing a ball cap and driving a black Chevy Cavalier.

The license plate number was not released immediately.

NBC 4 expects to get dash-cam video of the pursuit to help the public make an identification.

What most peoiple do not realize that once a person flees police they become a FELON it is no longer just a traffic case any longer.
NBC4 needs to see just how tough local Judges have been on those arrested after fleeing police and putting lives in danger. Do they get any extended jail time or prison as the law was designed to give them or are tey getting deals etc and do no jail time.
More people are killed by this type of Felony then any other kind inc police officers killed in traffic chases.

I would like to personally thank the Deputys involved in this chase, for having the level head and good sense to call off the chase.,  Im tired of over zealous police chasing people even though they are putting innocent people at jeopardy.
How many times have we seen an innocent person get killed because a suspect just keeps running, and gun-ho police keep chasing.  Im glad the Deputys in this instance put public saftey first. They should be commended.  You can always catch the guy later, but when someone is killed in an accident everyone loses.  Nice Job on the Online story Donna.

I don’t remember saying that I had a dilike for them. I would like to see them in my neighborhood more often. That might slow the vehicles that travel in excess of 25 mph on our dead end streets taht have children living on them.

This was off Norton Rd not anywhere near Grove City so it is quite obvious why a GCPD car can’t be seen. It was on the Westside near the old New Rome area. Guess prvious comment was by someone with dislike for Grove City Police that needs a county map.

I would guess the incident was inside the Grove City city limits and not a GCPD cruiser to be seen. They do tend to ignore everyting but shoplifting and drugs.
