Ohio Could Get Boost In Electric-Car Business

CLEVELAND, Ohio—Economically hard-hit Ohio could get a boost in the electric-car business with government-backed lithium-ion battery materials production.
Backers said Thursday that the proposed deal includes a 50 percent federal investment to build a plant in Elyria in northeast Ohio.
The BASF chemical company, which landed licensing rights from a federal laboratory, says the project will make Ohio a global player in the lithium-ion battery industry.
Such longer-lasting batteries could jump-start the Obama administration’s goal of promoting plug-in electric cars.
BASF selected Elyria because of its 100-year history of producing in the city and its proximity to BASF research facilities in the Cleveland suburb of Beachwood.

This is probably a good thing. Lithium ion batteries are one of the best sources of power we have right now. The only issue with them is that a safe method of recycling and disposal has not been fully developed, and they contain some significant pollutants. But nothing is perfect.
HOW MUCH WILL AL GORE MAKE OFF OF THIS?
I still don’t get why the Federal government thinks they have all the correct answers. Or is “correct” just an optional component?
The Feds are ruining the entrepreneurial spirit by encouraging business leaders to sit back and wait for investment, stimulus, or bailout money from all-knowing D.C. bureaucrats.
If these work as well as the batteries in my tools then get ready to push your car everywhere.
