PAYNE, Ohio—Firefighters in far northwestern Ohio rescued a worker whose rigging broke while he was on a water tower, leaving him dangling 100 feet in the air.

Chris Faylor of Belding, Mich. was hanging from the tower in the community of Payne for more than an hour before rescuers could reach him.

He was installing cable equipment on the water tower Tuesday when his rigging broke and his safety harness caught him.

Firefighters had trouble reaching Faylor because their ladder trucks were too short. They finally were able to lower him to a basket.

Faylor was treated at a hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind., about 20 miles away.
