Free DTV Mobile Clinics Come To Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio—If you know someone confused about the digital television conversion coming Friday, June 12, the “Ohio Get Converted” project was designed to help.

NBC 4 will stop simulcasting regular programming on its analog channel at 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 10.

“Ohio Get Converted,” a free program to help targeted Ohio citizens learn how to install digital TV conversion boxes and to facilitate online ordering of $40-off discount coupons, is holding mobile clinics in senior buildings and other community sites to assist anyone who needs it.

The program is targeted to reach seniors, low-income families, people with limited English and people with disabilities.

It is a part of the $90 million in funding provided by The American Recovery Reinvestment Act (Stimulus Bill) to provide outreach, technical assistance and education for vulnerable populations.

At the mobile clinics, program staff provides hands-on demonstrations of:
- How to install the digital-convertor boxes
- Connecting antennas
- Answers questions on how to install the convertor boxes to TVs with DVD players and VCRs
- How to order the FCC-funded $40-off coupons to buy the convertor boxes. Some sites will have Internet access to allow clinic attendees to order the coupons on the spot.

Come out to three local clinics:
- 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Whetstone Recreation Center, 3923 High St., Columbus.
- 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, at Fieldstone Court Homes, 2850 Alum Creek Dr., Columbus.
- 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Fieldstone Court Homes, 2850 Alum Creek Dr., Columbus.
