COLUMBUS, Ohio—A gas leak closed a portion of High Street or U.S. Route 23 right outside of the University District Wednesday.

NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.

North High Street was closed at Northwood Avenue at 1:47 p.m. because of an emergency gas-line break.

Columbus fire was called to the scene. Chief Whiting said the leak wasn’t severe.

The closing’s duration was originally estimated as less than an hour.

High Street was reopened to traffic at 2:57 p.m.

Motorists can use Indianola Avenue as an alternate route.
