Gas Leak Delays West Jeff Fireworks
WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio—
Residents of West Jefferson will have a fireworks display on Sunday night instead of Saturday night. The scheduled display in Garrette Park was put on
hold Saturday evening when a truck helping set up for the display accidentally ran into a gas meter on the location. The subsequent leak made fire officials concerned about the chance of sparks from the fireworks igniting any lingering fumes. A valve shut off fuel to the location of the meter, but there was still a natural gas presence in the area, so for safety’s sake, the event was postponed. Fireworks will be Sunday at 10 in Garrette Park in West Jefferson.
