COLUMBUS, Ohio
Ohio State says former astronaut and U.S. Sen. John Glenn will speak at the university’s spring commencement next month.

The university announced Friday that Glenn will be the featured speaker at Ohio Stadium on June 14 when some 7,500 undergraduate, graduate and professional students receive their degrees.
Ohio State says Glenn’s wife, Annie, will receive an honorary public service degree during the ceremony. The university’s public affairs school is named for John Glenn, a Democrat who represented Ohio in the U.S. Senate from 1975 to 1999.

A native of New Concord in eastern Ohio, he became the first American astronaut to orbit Earth in 1962.

“NBC Nightly News” anchor Brian Williams spoke at last year’s spring commencement.
