COLUMBUS, Ohio—It is legal for a woman to go topless in Columbus. And every year some choose to use that right at Community Festival (Comfest).
This year, GoTopless.org is using the Comfest platform to encourage more women to lose the top.
Some parents say they will keep their families away because of what they could see, while others are using the opportunity to show others they believe there is nothing to hide.
Lauren Damon is a new mother, and is organizing a nurse-in for mothers to be able to breastfeed in public.
Her group will set up at Goodale Park this weekend during Comfest to try and breakdown stigmas associated with breastfeeding.
Some are more understanding of mothers nursing, while saying they are not comfortable with women showing their breasts just because they can.
Others say if a man can go topless, so can women.

All right somebody is finally playing the “IF” card. It was only a matter of time.
I just checked out the website ‘go topless.org’. It looks like it originated from a cult leader. These people are nuts and so is anyone who thinks this is a legitimate organization. I can’t understand why a reputible news organization would site this as a good source. It’s like asking David Koresch about polygamy! What a surprise that a crazy old man wants to see young women go topless. I’ve worked in long term care and 90% of the old men would love for ALL women to go topless. Why is WCMH allowing this website to be used as a valid source in a story? Shouldn’t these cultists BE the story? I’m sure they were trying to recruit people at comfest if they were advertising it on their website.
“They keep finding guns at the local schools are you people taking them out of school and home schooling them? If not they could grow up to be criminals.“
Comfest is not an eduacation facility. I would never have my child at and event that promotes women taking off thier tops.
Do you encourage your child to run around topless when she turns 18?
Do you inform your children that it is okay to smoke weed in public as long as you stand to the side and do it?
Better yet do you encourage your children to be potheads when they grow up?
Glad you think it’s funny gq, cause I never did. You’re hearing stories about soldiers doing that stuff, not drill sgts
Yea, I experienced that last year. I do feel that if you are going to smoke weed you should do it behind closed doors, especially considering the fact that it’s illegal. Ppl even need to be considerate when smoking cigarettes. Children are around and ppl just walk through a crowd waving thier cigarette every where, I wonder how they’d feel if they caught a childs hair on fire or burned a childs eyeball from the lack of responsibility.
The military comment makes me laugh because I cant tell you how many stories i’ve heard about the weed smoking and other things that people i know from the military did. Even drinking an entire bottle of Nyquil in Iraq because they couldnt get liquor.
Maybe it’s just me…I grew up in a family that was for the most part military, so you didn’t even think of touching weed or any other kind of drug in my house cause you didn’t want to pay the price for it
The stabbing was accidental? How do you accidentally stab yourself 5 times? I wasn’t there on Saturday, I had my fill on Fri night. As far as the weed goes, I can tell you that is why I didn’t care to come back Sat because everywhere I walked Fri night I could smell weed which I hate. Honestly, people were not even trying to hide they were smoking, dealing it and there were cops everywhere…why were arrests not being made?
I was there Saturday for about 7 hours and saw plenty of topless people but not many that looked that bad. The people talking about others must look like models. The weed thing is crap it was pretty much only getting smoked near the main stage area. For the people talking about the stabbing and how bad it is at comfest this was accidental reported by Police, and that was the first death in 37 years. They keep finding guns at the local schools are you people taking them out of school and home schooling them? If not they could grow up to be criminals.
Good job Maumi,it’s never too early. You are intelligent(prior blogs)and probably know that I meant age appropriate personal responsibility.
My children are grown now(and well functioning adults),but it started with things like sharing and putting your toys away.If you want friends to share with you ,then you share. If you want your toys to stay together(games usable)put them away.
Your child will thank you one day and even if she doesn’t,you’ll have the satisfaction that you did a job well done when she grows into a functioning adult. My 30 yr.old son has my only grandchild and it pleases me to see him and his wife using my techniques. She is 6 like your child-the light of my life.
My kids aren’t perfect, but then I don’t know any perfect people. They party responsibly and I feel they’ve earned that right by not victimizing others. Thanks for your support on the sex offender blog too-an issue I feel especially strong opinions about.
