Topless At Comfest: Take It Off Or Leave It On?

Topless At Comfest: Take It Off Or Leave It On?

This year, a group is using the Comfest platform to encourage more women to lose their tops.

COLUMBUS, Ohio—It is legal for a woman to go topless in Columbus.  And every year some choose to use that right at Community Festival (Comfest).

This year, GoTopless.org is using the Comfest platform to encourage more women to lose the top.

Some parents say they will keep their families away because of what they could see, while others are using the opportunity to show others they believe there is nothing to hide.

Lauren Damon is a new mother, and is organizing a nurse-in for mothers to be able to breastfeed in public.

Her group will set up at Goodale Park this weekend during Comfest to try and breakdown stigmas associated with breastfeeding.

Some are more understanding of mothers nursing, while saying they are not comfortable with women showing their breasts just because they can.

Others say if a man can go topless, so can women.

I think everyone knows weed is illegal.  Probably people should not smoke it, but it is far down on my list of things to fix in the world.  Sorry if you don’t like the smell, Mike but it really didn’t hurt you to walk by.

I would put speeding and following too closely in a car as things to fix first.  Yes, these are also illegal and I see it all the time.

Can people stop with the comments about the stabbing?  We don’t know what happened yet, and there are real families who are hurting here.

Well said Laura.  I too hold my child responsible for her actions as well as her choices.  She is 6 and I beleive in the sooner the better.

I know one thing, Comfest will be much more enjoyable next year without a lot of you freaks of nature there.

Maumi you are right.Shame on those that hurt their families, steal from their kids, moms and grandmas to fuel their addictions, but this is a choice. There are differences between drugs though and programs like D.A.R.E. lose their credibility by lumping heroin with pot. These kids grow up(like mine did)and say"OMG,my friend isn’t a freak from pot…what else am I being lied to about”.
Personal responsibility! I once knew an elderly woman that said"I wish everyone that ever did drugs would disappear from the face of the earth”.I thought wow,all of your now responsible, hard working adult children would disappear if your wish had come true.
You are always going to see strange stuff in a free country, even former President Bush admitted to using cocaine. Why do some choose to be addicts? Don’t know, but some of the craziest people I’ve ever encountered were ones that led sheltered lives, having been given disinformation their whole lives about drugs, sex, whatever. They went absolutely crazy with their “experimentation”,but those were the ones who’s parents blamed the (inanimate object)drug or the group the kid was hanging with for their young ones personal choices.
My children were unlucky(I suppose)because they could never come at me blaming others for their idiotic behavior!

im with Laura on this. yet I understand where Mike is coming from, it is illegal but for some reason it appears that living legal is not the American way. And ppl do have the choice to ruin thier lives, unfortunately they do not realize the impact that it has on those that love them. And realistically, it seems as if illegal drugs are going nowhere any time soon.

Do you realize how many crimes are committed by people under the influence of their"legal” alcohol?
Rapes, wife and child beatings, murders, the list goes on and on.

kimmyb - I agree with you!!!

Unfortunately a little modesty these days is asking way too much! It’s all about them and what they want to do and couldn’t give 2 $hits about whether anyone else wants to see it or not.

I’m saying charge those people that go out and get in car wrecks stoned, with driving while impared.I just think enough laws exist to charge people for crimes committed while under the influence.I think our government has lost the"war” against it’s own people-history has proven that people will always ingest whatever they choose. We can’t use our precious resources saving people from themselves.Like I said, become an addict-your choice-your fault!

I’m not into alcohol either but I will say the primary reason I didn’t stay at Comfest was I could not walk anywhere that I didn’t smell weed, I don’t want to breathe that garbage in.  At least if someone is drinking you are not suffering any of the effects of it.  Once again, the thing you people can’t get through your head, regardless of its effects or damages from it…bottom line is it is ILLEGAL

I’m not making any excuses for alcohol.  As far as I see it they are the same with the only difference being alcohol is legal and weed is not.  I don’t understand the obsession with either one honestly, I don’t understand why people do either one.  You line yourself up for trouble, your judgment is compromised, you are not thinking clearly…why do that to yourself?
