PETA Appeals ‘No Manure, Urine At Statehouse’

COLUMBUS, Ohio—An animal advocacy group is appealing a decision by an Ohio Statehouse board that refuses to allow 3,500 gallons of pig excrement on the building’s steps.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says an attorney sent a letter Monday asking the Statehouse executive director to review the ruling by the Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board.
PETA seeks to bring manure and urine in buckets to the Capitol to support its claims that factory farms are breeding grounds for diseases such as swine flu. The group says an average farm produces 3,500 tons of animal waste annually.
The exhibit also includes a fan to disseminate odor and footage from a PETA investigation at a pig farm.
The board has agreed to allow some portions of the exhibit scheduled for Thursday.

:0) He, he ,he!!
The Statehouse is a pretty big producer of excrement on it’s own isn’t it.
P.E.T.A
Im working on breeding animals that have A.1 sauce running through their veins instead of blood so that i can eat them raw.
Im going to eat all the animals i can.
Im going to apply for a B.B.Q. permit on the day of your protest and have the smoke from that tender meat fill your nostrils and sicken your undernourished bodies.
I believe they want it to happen, especially considering other shenanigans they have fullfilled. I personally capable of doing my own research. Besides there are health officials that get paid money to ensure the safety of our food. I have a problem with control freaks that think everyone is suppose to live like them. Maybe if they were to put all that wated time to better use (like encouraging education, or anything leaning towards a better future for the children of the world) than people would listen and care.
I am sure that when a lion rips a baby zebra from its mother’s side and gnaws on its little body till it finally dies, the animals move on in thier circle of life.
Again, the way that PETA presents themselves is ignorant. Throwing blood on people and dumping 3500 gallons of pig excrement on the statehouses steps, tell me what exactly what are we learning from that? That to me is irrational and insane! I think that is why so many people won’t listen to PETA, because of these crazy stunts that they like to perform.
This just shows everyone what a whacky bunch of moronic idiots these people are. They are so out of touch with realistic thinking that the government should ban THEM. They are a total embarassment to society, and always good for a major laugh to say the least.
Do you guys really think that the people who organized this think it will happen? No, obviously, they don’t. They are hoping for articles like this to get around, you may have noticed that you learned something about factory farming while reading this. Yay information!
Rick, seriously? This is indeed a free country. I agree with you on this. These people have a right to speak out; to inform you. You have a right to eat meat, definitely! But /their right to freedom of speech trumps your right to be ignorant and think that your dinner didn’t suffer./
If you can live with that, that’s fine, and it’s probably delicious. But people should stop complaining that their dinners were ruined because people told them icky facts. People should know where their food comes from and the risks posed by this. If they know and are strong enough to say that their tasting something they like is more important than a suffering life and a little inconvenience and eating a lot of peanut butter, then I am impressed, and truly respect them for their honesty.
But if you want to complain about those awful animal rights activists making you learn things, you’re worse than the people who say they wish they were vegetarian, but just don’t have the willpower to stop eating bacon.
Yeah, PETA acts nuts. I wouldn’t really support them on most things. But they don’t really take themselves seriously, either, from what I understand.
Though there’s probably a handful of eager members who literally believe that Ben + Jerry’s should use milk from human women, you can rest assured most of them probably don’t think that’s the case, and get a little of your faith back in humanity.
That’s how I felt when I realized they were doing it for the publicity. Relieved.
PETA has enough crap without hauling it in. It amazes me that they think the right to stink up the state house grounds in order to pass out their silly propaganda. I had a wonderful pork loin roast on Saturday and quite frankly, I don’t care how the pig died or how much is excrement stunk while he was being raised. If PETA is against farming and eating animals. then don’t eat animals but leave me and the state house out of the range of their crap!;-)
These people have far too much time on their hands. It is a free country, if they don’t wish to eat meat or use meat products then don’t use them. But to think these people think they have a “right” to stink up the state house grounds in order to push their crazy propaganda is silly. I had a wonderful pork loin roast on Saturday and I really don’t care how the hog died or how much its excrement stunk while it was being grown. Pigs were put on this earth to act as food for men. If you disagree then don’t eat pork. Seems simple to me.
giggle, giggle :0)
PETA goes about things in completely the wrong way when trying to get their point across. You don’t get people to listen to your views by cramming it down their throat or dowsing them with blood! They have become their own worst enemy! Their seen as annoying and psychotic!
I’m all about animal rights and not having them abused even if we are going to eat them, but give me a break with all the stupid protest! I love walking by their protest and eating a big juicy cheeseburger! :)
