Hilliard Development Comes To A Halt
Published: May 30, 2009
HILLIARD, Ohio—Hundreds of millions of dollars have been invested in the new Hickory Chase community in Hilliard on Davidson Road. But now, construction has come to a halt.
According to the developer, Erickson Retirement Communities, financing issues have put a delay on construction.
Hickory Chase was slated to open in August.
A spokesperson for Erickson says due to the delay the company can’t project an opening date. We’re told more than 100 people have reserved apartments.
Those what want their deposit returned will be paid in full according to Erickson.
Many improvements like new sidewalks, roads, and roundabouts were made in the area to accommodate the development.
According to the City of Hilliard, the developer paid for all of the improvements, so there was no cost to the city or taxpayers.
Residents we spoke to say the improvements have helped traffic flow in the area.
