Limited Brands Announces 400 Layoffs

Limited Brands announced Thursday the company will lay off 400 staff members.

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Limited Brands announced Thursday the company will lay off 400 staff members.

According to the Columbus-based company, despite earnings of 68 cents per share on the fourth quarter, the company will reduce corporate staff by 400 people.

Of those 400 layoffs, 230 positions are white-collar jobs in Columbus

Officials said distribution, store and sales staffing levels will not be affected.

Les Wexner, chairman and CEO of Limited Brands issued the following statement Thursday morning:

“As the founder and leader, I know that decisions about people are the most difficult ones to make. In the current world economic condition, these are necessary decisions to make in order to keep our company strong and growing. At Limited Brands, we intend to do everything we can to support our associates who are being affected by these changes.“

Perhaps Les could send in the Victoria Secret “angels”? These layed off folks will need some divine help. I guess they’ll have plenty of “support” and a firm “foundation” for their next job.
