The Power Of Networking

This week, LinkedIn.com is showing the power of networking.
A seven-city Midwest event concludes Thursday in Columbus and it provides a face-to-face opportunity for those trying to get back into the work force, NBC 4‘s Mike Jackson reported.
Hundreds of people attended recent LinkedIn.com events in Illinois, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Dayton. Instead of making professional contacts online, organizers decided to make the events face-to-face.
LinkedIn helps set the tone for job seekers.
“It’s one more great tool. We’ve talked to executive recruiters and that’s really the first place they stop, LinkedIn—not so much Facebook when you’re talking about finding a job. But LinkedIn is the first place they look to the first place most employers go to look. It’s vital to be in on there,“ said Frank Agin, an author.
Lewis Howes bills the events as LinkedIn Success Week, but the real success comes with employment opportunities.
“When people sent me emails to follow up after the event the next day and say, ‘I met three of these people and two of those people became leads for me and now we’re doing business.‘ So success comes from everyone else rising them up to the next level and helping them achieve their goals. That’s really what it’s all about for me,“ Howes said.
The event is free and is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the BOMA events center on East Broad Street.
