Girl Struck By Stray Bullet At Red, White & Boom!
COLUMBUS, Ohio—A 16-year-old girl is recovering after being shot by a stray bullet at Red, White & Boom!
Jasmine Coleman Sammur was struck in the chest by a bullet last Friday. Investigators said the gun was fired into the air in celebration.
“The doctor came back with the photo and said, ‘You need to go to church on Sunday because you are one lucky girl,‘“ said Tracey Coleman Sammur, the victim’s mom.
“I didn’t even get to see the fireworks. I didn’t get my funnel cake,“ Jasmine said.
Police said the gunshot could have been fired from more than a mile away.
The bullet is still inside Jasmine. She has an appointment on Wednesday to have it examined.

For Mike:
I totally agree about the idiosyncrasy that resulted from this stupid and horrid act out of ignorance.
...but I will have to disagree with gun ownership and who should be entitled to owning one.. I truly don’t believe ANYONE should have a gun… except for hunting game.
I don’t think the gun will be traced at all, for all we know, that gun could’ve been fired off by a complete idiot that doesn’t even live in Columbus… it would be a very hard thing to trace and find. But it would be a miracle if it were to be found.
If the idiot does ever come to surface… he/she should be thrown away in prison and the key to the cell should be lodged into the ocean.
I hope this is an example of how owning a gun is stupid and unnecessary. Safe Owner or not… It think the only way to keep guns out of the wrong hands is to ban them completely and permanently… except for hunting game.
I really hope they can trace the rifling on the bullet and trace what gun it came from
I’m so sick of these idiots giving safe gun owners like myself a bad name. You do not recklessly discharge your firearm, always know your target and what is beyond your target, never point the muzzle at anything you don’t intend to destroy. Thankfully this girl was not killed and will suffer no permanent physical injury. The psychological damage however, now she will not want to go back to red, white, and boom and will probably not want to go to any other outdoor public event because of this, thankfully the bullet did not claim her life but all this because some idiot didn’t think before firing their gun. If you are stupid enough to fire a gun into the air like that especially in a populated area you are too stupid to own a firearm. Guns are not toys, they are deadly weapons and need to be treated with respect and care. A gun can and will take a life in the blink of an eye and once that is done you can’t take it back…keep that in mind, once you fire that gun you cannot stop the bullet. Here a 16 year old girl could have died because of someone’s stupidity and thoughtlessness, I’m will bet this individual was probably drunk when firing the weapon too
