Man Files Lawsuit Over Wife’s Death

COLUMBUS, Ohio—A man whose wife was killed last year when an SUV plowed into her living room has filed a $5 million wrongful death lawsuit against the man who drove the vehicle and the restaurant he stopped at just before the crash. Lucy Taylor was killed on Dec. 7, 2007, when a Ford Explorer smashed through her front living room wall and drove out the rear of the house. The driver, 31-year-old Michael Baker, was later convicted of aggravated vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The lawsuit, filed by Gary Taylor on Dec. 5, says Baker left the Finish Line Bar and Grill, a nearby restaurant, with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. Bar owner Betty Frazier says the bar isn’t at fault because Baker wasn’t inebriated when he left.
