COLUMBUS, Ohio—NBC 4 (WCMH-TV) has launched Columbus’ newest television channel, RTN 4.2, home of the Retro Television Network. It is now on digital channel 4.2., NBC 4’s digital sub-channel.  RTN 4.2 has retro television at its best from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s! It has something for everyone including Leave it to Beaver, Knight Rider, Wagon Train, Rockford Files, and Black Sheep Squadron. Plus, look for current local programs including encore performances of NBC 4’s Daytime Columbus with Gail Hogan, weeknights at 8:00 p.m.

RTN 4.2 can be found over the air and free at digital position 4.2, next to NBC 4 digital channel 4.1. Those with satellite TV can call their provider for more information. Cable subscribers can find RTN 4.2 on these cable systems:

Time Warner Cable     80
Insight                   431
WOW                   130
AT&T u-Verse         TBA

RTN first went on the air in July of 2005 in Little Rock, Arkansas.  RTN quickly began launching stations across the country, culminating with its nationwide roll-out in the fall of 2007 with the launches of WRAZ-DT2, Raleigh-Durham, NC, and WPXI-DT3, Pittsburgh, PA.

Since that time RTN has continued to launch stations and is in Atlanta, Seattle, Orlando, Buffalo, Eugene, Myrtle Beach, Spokane, Detroit, St. Louis, and now Columbus.

The edition of the Retro Channel is a welcome change. Prime time television has been in the toilet since Seinfeld went off the air and “Reality T.V.“ is just a lame substitute for writing. I would much rather watch even the worst 60’s sitcom than watch what’s on T.V. now so thank you NBC4. I have only one complaint… You put on “The Gail Hogan Comatose Hour” instead of The A-Team?

4.2 is way better than the weather channel!! I especially like Alfred Hitchcock and Night Gallery. It would be great if you Added more shows like that! (outer limits and twilight zone!) JUst Please! Please Please! get rid of the infomercials!! Great Job on everything else!!!!

I liked it better when it was 24 hours of weather. We already have a retro channel on 6.2. Now we have two channels showing basically the same thing. Bring back my weather!

This station is a relief, with all of the reruns that the other network stations are running now. It is nice to go back and remember.  My question is why is NBC4 not allowing the 8:00 p.m. network program to run? They have been running infomercials, and now I see they will be running Daytime Columbus reruns.  Let the A Team run in this slot like it is suppose to.  You have a good thing going here don’t ruin it.

It had a ruff start but it is running smooth now.  Its great because if you are older it really takes you back, and if your younger its brand new shows you have never even heard of.  Personally I like Kojak and the Hulk.

This new station is great..it shows a lot of the old programs that quite possibly had been forgotten.
