GAHANNA, Ohio – The new multi-jurisdiction emergency dispatch center for Fire, Rescue and EMS will open its doors on Thursday evening in Gahanna.  The MECC Center had been operating temporary since 2004 at the Mifflin Township Meeting Hall on Old Ridenour Road.  The new 2000 square foot center at Creekside will offer more room for training, meetings, additional consoles and upgraded technology.

MECC is a multi-jurisdiction collaboration between six departments in Central Ohio including Mifflin Township, Plain Township, Truro Township, Violet Township and the City of Whitehall.  Over 30,000 calls were handled by MECC last year alone.  With calls for service increasing and other fire departments interested in MECC for their dispatching, it is a benefit that over 120,000 people in Franklin and Fairfield Counties will welcome.
