Newly-Elected Heath Mayor Ready To Move Forward
HEATH, Ohio—Voters rejected red light speed cameras in Heath—and they also said no to another term for Mayor Richard Waugh.
Waugh spent the last two years as mayor and helped bring the cameras to the city.
Mark Johns will take the mayor’s seat at the start of 2010.
Johns said the city has real potential and he wants it to move beyond the camera dispute—even though it brought the city a lot of money.
“Last year they thought it would bring in $100,000 in revenue…We’ll learn to use proper priorities to balance our budget,“ Johns said.
Johns said he fully expects a smooth transition into office and looks forward to having an open line of communication with the residents of Heath.
