Police: Officer Injured By Red Light Runner
COLUMBUS, Ohio—A Columbus police officer was injured in a crash Monday night.
The officer was responding to a call at High and Rich streets downtown at about 7:15 p.m.
As he was traveling west on Rich Street, and a passenger car ran the red light at Rich and 3rd streets, colliding with the officer.
The officer was pinned in his vehicle for a short time and was extricated by firefighters. The officer was transported in stable condition to Grant Medical Center.
The driver and occupants of the passenger car were also transported with minor injuries.
The driver was cited for running a red light and causing the accident.
Officers on scene stated that alcohol may have been a factor in this incident.

My thoughts and prayers go out to this officer and his family. A police officer’s job is a dangerous one…I don’t think many people realize just how dangerous until something like this happens.
If only there had been a redlight camera there this never would have happened! Right?
