Official: Ohio Executions Still Coming Too Quickly
Published: August 10, 2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Ohio Supreme Court recently ordered more time between executions, but the schedule is still too tight for the Ohio Public Defender’s Office. At least one person will be put to death each month through the end of this year. State Public Defender Tim Young says that’s an unacceptably fast pace, and he worries that mistakes could happen. Young says each case requires a great deal of work.
Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray says the rather full slate of lethal injections comes as the state works its way through a backlog following U.S. Supreme Court cases that held up executions nationwide. But the state’s top prosecutor indicates his office finds the schedule manageable. Ohio’s high court agreed in June to space executions at least three weeks apart.

One every 15 minutes would work then refill Death Row and start all over again tomorrow. Make it efficient and cost effective. The more that go the fewer we feed. There have been killers on the row for 20 years which is retarded.
I’m REALLY going to hate to post this, but Chico - for once you have a valid point and I totally agree! If you murder someone by gutting them, etc., the same should be done to you and ASAP upon being found guilty. I even work in the legal field, but damn, years and years in prison on our tax dollars - time to say no! Have the trial, go through a QUICK appeal process and FRY ‘EM!
SHOOT (NO PUN INTENDED) THEY SHOULD HERD THEM IN LIKE CATTLE.
I WOULD SLEEP VERY GOOD AT NIGHT KNOWING I PUT A BUNCH OF KILLERS
TO THEIR DEATHS. I WOULD ALMOST VOLUNTEER FOR THE JOB. WORK 24-7 UNTIL I WAS ALL CAUGHT UP.
I TELL YOU, IF YOU MADE EXECUTIONS PUBLIC AND MADE THEM QUICKER ALOT OF THESE PUNKS AND GANGSTA’S WOULD SNAP OUT OF ALL THE KILLING THEY ARE DOING.
IF THESE BIG DUMMIES AREN’T ASHAMED OF KILLING AND BEING SAVAGES THEMSELVES, I’M NOT ASHAMED OF STRAPPING THEM INTO THE ELECTRIC CHAIR (OH WAIT I FORGOT NOT HUMANE, BUT MOST OF THEIR MURDERS WEREN’T HUMANE EITHER).
ONE THING IN THE BIBLE I DO BELIEVE IN IS AN EYE FOR AN EYE. THEY SHOULD BE DEALT THE SAME DEATH THEY PASSED OUT.
YOU DISH OUT GRUESOME AND PAINFUL DEATHS THATS EXACTLY HOW YOU ARE GOING TO GO. NO MATTER IF YOU’RE 100 POUNDS OF 700 POUNDS
Too quickly, are you serious?
No court sentences someone to the death penalty for jaywalking, they are there for a heinous crime.
We pay for these people to be housed, fed and medically cared for for years and go through appeal after appeal before their sentence is carried out.
I would venture to say that most of them die of old age in their cell.
They get better treatment and care than the homeless.
I don’t envy the person(s) carrying out the sentence, not in the least. But I do believe that these criminals have been taken care of at taxpayer expense for far too long.
Line them up and juice them up as fast as you can. If you are going to kill then you need to be killed. I for one am sick of my taxes going to keep them alive, and feeding them.
same - I think that if we started to kill them a lot quicker it would have more of an impact. The once every month or 2 doesn’t pack the same pack as hearing about 1 or 2 a day being sanitized.
And…it does not seem to be much of a detriment. And….what kind of a 9th century people are we that killing for killing makes us feel good? Killing begets killing in one way or another. Like the issue of not wanting to provide healthcare to our own people..we still are a savage nation.
Too quickly??? Not quickly enough is more like it!!
...and the problem is???
