MASSILLON, Ohio—Administrators in one Ohio school district will now have to answer to a high school senior elected to the school board.

Unofficial results from northeast Ohio’s Stark County show Kathryn Knowles has won a four-year term to one of three available board seats in the Jackson Local district. The 18-year-old voted for the first time in Tuesday’s election and attends Jackson High School in Massillon, about 50 miles south of Cleveland.

Knowles had said she wanted to help her school and the school district. She calls the experience of the campaign “phenomenal.“
