MANSFIELD, Ohio—A state lawmaker from Ohio was star-struck as an invited guest at President Barack Obama’s first state dinner.
Two-term Democratic Rep. Jay Goyal of Mansfield used Twitter at one point Tuesday night to note that he was standing next to CNN medical correspondent Sanjay Gupta. In another tweet,
Goyal said “amazing” was the only word to describe the event.
The dinner was in honor of India’s Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and the 338-person guest list included Hollywood celebrities, major Democratic fundraisers and prominent Indian-Americans.
Goyal is among a small number of lawmakers with Indian backgrounds serving across the United States. He also has been mentioned as a possible re-election running mate for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland.

It’s a sad state when people still get star struck over Hollywood people and government officials. They sit on the pot just like you and me.
