Ohio Misses Deadline On Business Report

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Gov. Ted Strickland’s administration has missed its own deadline for creating a scorecard that would measure and track purchases the state makes from Ohio-based businesses.  He ordered the scorecard in July to beef up the “Think Ohio First” program, which encourages state agencies to give Ohio companies every opportunity to compete for state business.  The scorecard was supposed to be online by Jan. 1, but is not expected now until at least mid-month.
   
The Ohio Department of Administrative Services said it anticipates that many state agencies will receive bad marks for their in-state purchasing. Spokesman Ron Sylvester said the department is working to make sure the purchasing data is as accurate as possible before making it public.
