Ohio School Candidate Clears Up Name

COLUMBUS, Ohio —Mark Dann wants to talk about school issues, not his name.

Dann is a school board candidate in the Northridge school district in Johnstown, Ohio, about 20 miles northeast of Columbus.  He is not Marc Dann, the former Ohio attorney general who resigned in 2008 amid a sexual harassment scandal in his office.

The school candidate says he meets a lot of people on the campaign trail who are curious about his name. He clears up any confusion by telling them that he’s a consultant for a software company and has never held state office.  The differences don’t stop there. Mark Dann the candidate spells his name with a “K” and is a registered Republican. Marc Dann the former attorney general spells his name with a “C” and is a Democrat.

The election is Nov. 3.
