WAVERLY, Ohio – The Chillicothe post of The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Saturday morning in Pike County.

Reports say 56-year-old Robert Boring of Albany, Ohio, was traveling westbound on S.R. 32 in a semi. Just after midnight, 17-year old Ashley Royster of Piketon was attempting to cross S.R. 32 in a Chevy Blazer and failed to yield to the semi.

Ashley was transported to the Pike Community Hospital where she was treated and released.

Ashley’s front-seat passenger, 17-year-old Amber Risner of Jasper, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation at this time and no word on charges.

No one in Ohio’s rural counties wear seatbelts. That is why it needs to be a primary offense that can get the driver & the unrestrained passenger a ticket for. Had it been a primary offense and this girl been ejected there would not be a vehicular homicide charge pending against the other girl.

EJECTED= NO SEATBELT. Tragic accident that could have possibly been prevented.
