DANVILLE, Ohio – The Mt. Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred just after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2009.  The crash occurred approximately two miles east of Danville in Knox County.

Authorities say 45-year old Vicci Sapp of Danville was traveling eastbound on US 62 when she drove off the right side of the roadway striking a guardrail, then slid across the roadway, striking the guardrail on the left side of the road causing the vehicle to overturn several times.

The right front passenger, 41-year old Angela Heldenbrand was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene.  Two other passengers in the vehicle were both transported to Knox Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Sapp was arrested for OVI at the scene and is incarcerated at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.  Alcohol is considered to have been a contributing circumstance in the crash.

What a terrible tragedy.  While a agree that drinking and driving is NEVER okay, getting in the car with someone who has been drinking is also NEVER okay.

Lock the door and throw away the key, she might as well of had a loaded gun and killed Angela Heldenbrand with it.  Drink after drink is like adding bullet after bullet into a gun.  This is premeditated and should be treated as nothing less.  She is fortunate that the other passengers were not killed.
