COLUMBUS, Ohio—A robbery suspect found himself on the other end of a firearm, and the clerk says he pulled the trigger.

NBC 4’s Matt Alvarez reported with the FAST FACTS in this developing story.

Columbus police were called to a BP gas station on East 17th Avenue shortly after midnight Tuesday.

Witnesses told police they heard a gunshot and saw a man laying outside in the gas station’s parking lot.

The clerk told police he was closing for the night when an individual attempted to rob the store. That’s when the clerk says he shot the suspect, officials said.

The suspect was transported to OSU Medical Center and currently is in critical condition.

CPD continued to investigate the overnight Northeast Side shooting.

Ban guns? Get real. This criminal and other criminals will always have or obtain guns whether they are illegal to own or not. So why would you take away the rights of law abiding citizens to protect themselves from this scum? If some came at me with ill intent I would be happy to defend myself by what ever means necessary, this clerk did the right thing. If you roll the dice and do not pull the trigger, then the criminal shoots you-game over, and the bad guys win.

Althought i’m a CCW holder, i can’t see in this news report that the clerk was in dangerous, Ohio Law state deadly force in self defense, i didn’t see where the robbery had a weapon, but again another third world person with a gun

Althought i’m a CCW permit holder, OH law state in self-defense only can deadly force be used, and althought the clerk stated that he may be robbed, there is no indication that the robber had a firearm or weapon, so where is the self-defense rule???

Precisely, Lt Mall.  Glad I’m not the only one around here with some good common sense and sound logic.

yes your right he would have turned it in when Obama collected them, because he wouldn’t take the chance of getting caught breaking the law. There would be a punnishment for that.

C’mon, now.  If guns were illegal like they should be, then the robber wouldn’t have a gun and wouldn’t rob gas stations.  Right?

Do you mean to tell me that a person using a gun can save lives & stop criminals?? Why would we wan’t to ban such a tool?? Ever qualified person should have a ccw license and carry one.
