COLUMBUS, Ohio—Police found and charged the woman who allegedly left her infant daughter on the porch of an abandoned home in June.

A mail carrier found the newborn girl on the porch of a vacant house on Marble Drive, near Livingston Avenue at about 10 a.m. June 27.

Police said that on July 5, they received information that 24-year-old Nayeli Garcia was the mother of the infant.

Police went to Garcia’s workplace, interviewed her and said she allegedly admitted to leaving the newborn on the porch.

She was taken to Grant Medical Center for treatment and charged with one count of child endangering.

The infant has since been placed with a foster family.

She needs to go immediately! There is no reason why the American tax payers need to pay to help her understand the difference between right and wrong! Send her back to wherever she came from and let them spend the money for her counseling. You shouldn’t be given the option of the American dream when you broke the law trying to get here. It’s like me going out and robbing a bank so that I can be rich and then give a pitty party story that I was only trying to achieve my dream of being rich then expecting people to feel sorry for me so I get to keep it. I know there is a big difference in the comparison, but in simpler terms you shouldn’t get to keep something that you broke the law to get in the first place. We have enough sponges in America now, we surely don’t need anymore!

Throw her and every other illegal out of here they are dragging our economy into the dumps.
No other country in the world allows this to take place and the Constitution covers American citizens people not evryone who walks on our soil.

Jaguar, your comments point to a larger issue, which is really beyond the scope of this article, so I’ll just touch on it briefly.

The mom’s name and illegal status suggest that she is from one of those countries like Mexico that is run by the Catholic church.  That means that she would be fearful of using any contraception, and especially abortion.  In a very real sense, incidents like this result from allowing religion to influence public policy.

Even if illiterate, the mother had many options. She chose wrong.

In my opinion, she should be tried, and if convicted, sentenced, put on full probation effective upon legal return to the USA, then deported.

I see not the wisdom of spending resources to feed, clothe and shelter her when she belongs in another country.

Nor do I see the wisdom of permitting her to unlawfully remain in this country.

There is too much free information so that a couple may avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

Even in those rare instances when birth control fails, there are lawful options and sources to help with those options.

She repeatedly chose bad option after bad option.

Should I repeatedly choose the bad option of attempting to steal food from baby bears in the presence of mama bear, I eventually will be held to answer for my poor judgment.

This young lady obviously needs help, and she probably won’t get it if she is deported.

Instead of everyone being so negative, we should be helping her to achieve the
American Dream and be reunited with both of her children, or however many she has.

Patriots, I couldn’t agree with you more.  That is what is wrong with our entire country.  America supports foriegners and leaves the Americans starving in poverty, with no jobs and limited law enforcement as well as EMT’s and firefighters.  Look our troops are even over seas protectins foriegn individuals.  Sad :0(

I heard on the news that she has another child still back wherever she is from, she obviously isn’t taking care of the child either! She’s been here a year already illegally, she needs to be deported immediately and her place of employment needs to be fined for hiring an illegal!!!

Wow, i drop my 13 year old off at the skating rink with her friends.  She is very stable minded and has a cell in order to reach me if necessary.  I do not consider it neglect, I consider it giving her the opportunity to grow and gain independence.  I don’t consider them babysitters either, as I do lay down the rules. She knows that if the rules are broken there will be consequences. Usually during this time I take my young daughter to the library.
I agree that there are plenty of parents that do take advantage of situations and tend to neglect thier children, but criticizing them isn’t going to give them the education needed to progress.  It may help if the government and majority of society would realize the value of our youth.
