Post Offices Adjust Delivery Routes
CENTRAL OHIO—Declining mail volume, fuel costs and the economy led to a national review of postal delivery routes.
Some Central Ohio zip codes were to be affected.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS.
Several Columbus and Dublin post office routes were to be consolidated, which alters delivery times.
Affected offices in Columbus included the 43202 area of Clintonville, 43206 area of German Village, 43209 in Bexley, 43213 in Whitehall, northwest Columbus with the zip code of 43220, 43231 in northeast Columbus and 43232 in the Eastland area.
Marysville and Mount Vernon post offices also were to consolidate deliveries, which alters delivery time or means a new mail carrier.
Changes were to happen as early as next week.

I have worked for the post office for the last 15 years. Cuts are just the beginning of what will happen in the future. Less mail does not give carriers less houses to stop at. Cutting carrier and clerks only leaves more mess. We work in a pyramid of management that is unnecessary. Management does not care if your carrier stops to see if your ok like in the “old post office”. Its all about a number to them. There are thousands of wonderful carriers that have just been pushed and pushed to far. Ask any postal employee (non-management) if they like there job and they will say if it wasnt for management. If they would just let us do our jobs. So before anyone starts to shame a carrier, remember they would just like to do their job and help people.
I had a very bad experience with the PO 2 yrs ago. When we moved here from another state, our mailed never got forwarded from our previous address; and this was after I had filed a change of address w/ the old PO! Our mail was sitting in the old PO in a corner and the postmaster didn’t have a clue that our mail was not being forwarded! I though that at least the carrier would say something to someone about our mail piling up! But, noooo. It took us about a month to get our “lost” mail—and that was after getting the runaround from the “customer service” at the 1-800 number. Fees keep going up and service keeps going down there. I try to avoid going there as much as possible.
Oh how wonderful to hear the news that the PO is adjusting delivery for some offices. The service out here in Grove City is already crappy. The one guy that delivers for my area is few cards shy of a full deck and mostly just tosses your packages on the porch. Doesn’t matter if you reschedule a delivery because HEY they’ll just leave it on the truck for the next day and you only find out about it when you get to the office and they say “yep, it’s still on the truck and he’s in your neighborhood now”. Rates are increased, delivery times are changed (and not for the better), and personnel don’t seem to give a rat’s butt about service. Oh and just try to get through to a human at the PO Customer Service line. Good luck with that. And they wonder why they’re losing money….DUH
