Power Outages Climb

CENTRAL OHIO—Officials are urging Ohioans to be patient in the face of a snow and ice storm that has cut power to more than 150,000 customers statewide.
Power lines are being pulled down by snow topped by ice topped by another layer of snow.
Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney cautions that it’s not a situation that’s going to be resolved quickly.
At midday on Wednesday, American Electric Power reported more than 97,000 of its customers were without service, primarily in southern and central Ohio. South Central Power Co. had nearly 23,000 homes and businesses off-line in the same regions.
Duke Energy reports more than 35,000 outages in southwestern Ohio.
There are few outages in northern Ohio, which got mostly snow.
