Jewish Community Under Heightened Security
Holocaust Shooting & Columbus
CPD says it's stepping up patrols around Jewish institutions and urging them to up security.COLUMBUS, Ohio—The CEO of the Columbus Jewish Federation says she is saddened by Wednesday’s shooting at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.
She says the shooting should be a reminder of how important it is to teach and practice tolerance.
The Columbus Jewish Federation is dedicated to teaching the community about tolerance and awareness. The group was alerted about the shooting Wednesday afternoon by the Columbus Department of Homeland Security and was advised to step-up security. This means making sure doors are locked at local organizations and watching out for suspicious activity.
A Columbus Police lieutenant said there is the possibility of copycats although they don’t think any incidents are likely.
However, Columbus police will increase patrols around local Jewish organizations as a precaution.
The Department of Homeland Security says they take similar measures with notification and protection whenever any group face a possible threat.

LCB64, i completely agree with you. I remember when they would allow for these individuals to protest on the courthouse grounds (spreading hatred)and then act in awe why there are still individuals parcticing such hatred.
I hope they give the security man that passed away a medal. The other security men should also get medals. I hope the old man dies.It is a sad day when in the 21st century, you have an 88 year old man who was in WWII & saw the autrocities for himself and then denies it ever happened.
Its not just the Jewish community that needs to be under heighten alert…every one needs to be….we are a country under racial distress…Thanks to the government!!!
Today is a very sad day. The hateful actions of this individual affirm that we have so much more work to do. The people visiting the Holocaust Museum were there to broaden their knowledge and understanding of the immense tragedy that occurred years ago. Who would have known that on this beautiful day they would learn first-hand how close hatred is among us. This incident strengthens our efforts and energy to try to make this world a better place.
