This is so heartbreaking!  How terrible for the parents of this child.  Children of this age often release seat belt locks or find a way to get out without the parent noticing for awhile.

As an EMT and my husband being a Paramedic, we have seen our fair share of accidents. I have not read anywhere that states the child was NOT in a car seat. Freak accidents happen. People including children get ejected from cars. God forbid even CARSEATS get ejected. Seat belts break. Children CAN also be ejected from the actual car seat. Let’s not judge, don’t you think the parents are going through enough, oh yeah..we also don’t have the entire story!!

I travel this road twice a day going to and from work.  I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve had other cars pull out in front of me.  This really is a dangerous intersection.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this child.

She was ejected from the car?!  I don’t really mean to pass judgement on such a horrible tragedy and I really do feel for this child’s mother…but why in the heck wasn’t this little girl restrained in a car seat?  Granted they don’t state that here, but I’ve run through what could have happened in my mind and can’t figure out how this could have happened unless neither she or the child seat was restrained correctly.  It just goes to show you that you can’t even go “just down the street”.  Your children (and yourself!) should be buckled at all times.

It has been 2 1/2 hours and they are still diverting traffic onto Hanby Square. We have more traffic on this street today than we normally have in a month!

I live in Forest Park and yes that is a pretty dangerous intersection. There are always accidents. From hearing that the poor child was ejected from the SUV it sounds like she wasnt in a car seat.

I live the next street down from this accident, and I was wondering what was happening.  That intersection is dangerous.  People pull out of Bayfield all the time without looking!!  I am so sad that a child died.
