On behalf of the entire Ohio University family, I extend heartfelt condolences to Jimmy’s family and friends. We are so proud that he was an OU graduate and honored that he expressed deep pride in his alma mater. The Ohio University alumni and our entire campus community celebrate Jimmy’s life, gifts and his exemplary commitment to his family, his community and making central Ohio a better place to live.

My condolences to the family of Jimmy.  He was truly a great man.  My grandfather, Joe Lesch, knew Jimmy from his days in Mansfield.  The two were friends, and I remember my grandpa bringing Jimmy to my grade school to speak one year.  I also worked at Recreation Unlimited one summer, one of the greatest places on this earth for people with disabilities.  Jimmy’s heart was so big and those who were touched by his life will remember him for a very long time.

Deepest Condolences to the family of our beloved Jimmy. I was fortunate enough to know him personnally through a mutual life long friend. The last time we spoke, his eyes still sparkled when discussing the Buckeyes.  He had an enormous heart and was passionate about all of his true loves: his lovely wife, Miriam; Buckeye sports; Easter Seals; Recreation Unlimited; and Golf, just to name a few. We were blessed as a community to have his integrity at the forefront of his sports reporting even when his opinions were what everyone was thinking, but no one else had the guts to say out loud. I will miss his contagious smile.

We’ve truly lost one of the icons of our business.  Jimmy was much more than the guy who did sports every night…he was all about community.  I had the privilege of working with him on some Special Olympics specials back in the mid-70’s and the way he dealt with those kids was amazing.  No one ever saw the behinds the scenes time and compassion and true love Jimmy had for those kids.
Jimmy was quite a guy.  I’m honored to have been able to work with him.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Crum family at this trying time.
Even though I never had the honor to meet him he was a big part of my day while he was on TV.
I could not wait for the sports report and his commentary.
I also enjoyed the buckeye games he called with his famous lines “How about that” and “Its a barnburner”
God bless you Jimmy…

I send my deepest sympathy to the family of Jimmy Crum.  It was always a pleasure seeing Jimmy on the news and in resent viewings on commercials.  I have not been near him to know him, but on TV and that was a lot to me.  I can remember watching the news every evening with my family and you always knew who was on air!  He will be sadly missed and many thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I write this with tears in my eyes. my name is Brian Fontanarosa and I am 22 years old. I had the honor of knowing Jimmy for many years. I also had the honor of being the Easter Seals poster child in 1991. Jimmy was a great man who made a very big impact on my life and the lives of many other children. I was able to present Jimmy with his jacket that had the hand prints all over it. One of those hand prints is mine. I always enjoyed seeing Jimmy with that jacket on. Jimmy also shared with me his love of sports. He took me to several Ohio State football and basketball practices where I met many of the great football and basketball stars of the early 90’s. He was a great man and will be sorely missed. I’m proud to say I was one of “Jimmy’s Kids”. You’ll never be forgotten Jimmy!

If there were a million red roses for all the lives Jimmy Crum touched, there would be one white rose to represent Jimmy.  He was like no other!
