I grew up here in Columbus and was given a steady diet of Jimmy Crum. I continued taking in every thing he had to say until he retired. I will always remember listening to Jimmy announce the OSU basketball games. There is only one thing left to say about Jimmy, his career and his life. “How about that, sports fans!“

I was the Easter Seals Poster Child in 1983 (I was 3) and both camper and counselor at Recreation Unlimited. Seeing a couple of pictures of the two of us on NBC has brought back great memories of the man. One fond memory I have was when I was about 7 or 8. I was watching Grandview Hts’ Memorial Day Parade and Jimmy happened to be in it. When he saw me, he made the car he was riding in stop (stopping the rest of the parade in the process) so he could get out and give me a kiss and talk to me for a minute! That was just the kind of man he was…I will miss him greatly.

Thank you Mr. Crum for all you have done over the years for the Columbus community. We shall not see the likes of you again. Condolences to your family and may they find peace in John 5:24.

I was born with spina bifida and an Easter Seals client and a camper/counselor at Recreation Unlimited.  I knew Jimmy from the time I was 4 or 5.  You’ve heard of Jerry’s kids?  We were Jimmy’s kids, and we knew it.  He always told us “Remember, Jimmy loves you.“  and he meant it.  Remember, Jimmy.  We love you too.

This is my son Matt with a few words.  I just watched the video of Jimmy Crum and even though I am only 11, I know Jimmy was a good man because he hung out with Woody Hayes.  I also think he was a great person because he liked sports and did all those great things for those good kids.

My memories of jimmy are from his day,s doing play by play for osu basketball game,s. It was always a thrill listening to him givng very informative broadcasting of a basketball game which also included his trade mark saying which was WE HAVE A REAL BARNBURNER HERE TONIGHT FOLKS and i will always remember him saying that. He was a great sportscaster and he will be missed but he will stay in our hearts and memories forever. My condolences to his family and also to his family at channel 4.

Jimmy Crum has been involve with my love of Buckeye sports for over 50 years.  I first met Jimmy while having dinner with my Mom and my Aunt at the Jerry’s Drive-In just down the road from Channel 4 in the mid 50’s.  Then in 1983 my oldest son was at Children’s hospital with a broken leg.  Jimmy Crum stopped in the physical therapy room where my son was learning how to use crutches with his full leg cast so he could get to go home.  Jimmy joked about the size of the cast with my son and then signed the cast. I think I was more excited about the autograph than my son was.
