I have grown up with Jimmy Crum and his sports casts all of my 54 years. I will never forget his famous comment during basketball season “How about that sportsfans” and of course his distinguished jackets. Jimmy, you will be sadly missed but your legacy will live on.
During the Summer of 1982 I was an intern at Channel 4. I was working with the videographers when I met Jimmy and he was the most humble man I ever met. He always ask how I was doing and answered any questions I had. He also lauaghed about himself, especially that summer when he came down with a bad case of poison ivy on his legs. Some viewers probably didn’t know that he was doing his sportcasts wearing shorts.
baby powder hook shot and barn burner. only jimmy crum could say those words to describe a basketball game.
I have known Jimmy Crumm for over thirty years. I was with him when we broke grounds at Recreation Unlimited. I was with him last month when he surprise me at my day care center for a party they gave me. He was my friends. I will miss him so much. Mary Coles
He will be miss in Marysville and all of Union County and the State of Ohio.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Crum’s family and friends, May he rest In Peace and watch over those he loved so much from above.
I just want to add, I think that he was the greatest advacate for Disabled children. I am a person with Cerebral Palsy and finding people that love and support people, are rare in this day and age.. I have not slept since hearing the news… I know that God welcomed him and his jackets home with open arms.
We love you Jim…

AS SO MANY HAVE ALREADY SAID, MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO JIMMY’S FAMILY. I CONSIDER MYSELF A FRIEND AS I MET HIM ALMOST 40 YRS. AGO AT CHILDREN’S BURN UNIT, HAVING BEEN THE ‘INVISIBLE NURSE IN THE LITTLE FILM HE DID ‘3TN’. KELLY I FIRST MET YOU WHEN YOUR DAD BROUGHT YOU UP TO THE UNIT TO VISIT AND MY PATIENT FELL IN LOVE WITH YOU! I MET YOU AGAIN WHEN YOU WERE AT DICK’S DEN WITH A FELLOW JAZZ SINGER AND MY FRIEND.
HE WAS A MAN OF HIS WORD, NO MATTER IF IT WAS A PROMISE TO SAY ‘HI’ TO A CHILD ON 6 O’CLOCK NEWS, OR GOING TO A CHILDS’ HOME TO SURPRISE HIM FOR HIS BIRTHDAY. HOW HE DID ALL THAT AND THE SPORTS SIDE OF LIFE AND BE THE GREAT DAD AND HUSBAND I KNOW HE WAS, I DO NOT KNOW. HE IS REUNITED WITH HIS WIFE, AND SO MANY OTHER SPORTS GREATS. MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH YOU AS I SHED TEARS ALONG WITH MANY OTHER OHIOANS.
