We were informed that the NCC, city, police, and surrounding civic associations are addressing the issue. We were also told that this bar has become a gang hangout and that it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the city. Hopefully, the problem will be resolved shortly.
My husband used to work there and we’d go there a lot, so we have quite a few friends who were, or may have been there that night, and we are pretty worried about people we haven’t heard from. If you know Mikey V, and know how to get in touch with him, please let us know you’re O.K.
This whole thing is such a shame. I agree that the place has gotten out of control. I remember when, years ago,and it was Gables, it was a low-key neighborhood bar where people could go hang out after work, and just relax with the “regulars”, where everyone knew everyone, played on dart leagues together, had football potlucks, and took care of eachother, like making sure you had a safe ride home, watching out for conflicts, etc. Heck, they even threw a baby shower for me there!
I am so sorry to hear about your friend getting shot at this establishment. I hope that she ends up getting the bullet out and does not have any subsequent problems. I am going to do everything within my power to address the problems at this bar! NOTE: My direct email is: cparker1212@msn.com if anyone has any details on this event or any other issues within the neighborhood.
Thank you…

my close friend was shot there. luckily she was only hit in her leg. BUT they are afraid to remove the bullet, they think she might become paralyzed if they do. she has nerve damage from the shooting. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone injured there. My ex boyfriend was supposed to go with my friends that night.I’m so glad he didnt go.
My name is Chuck Parker and I am the President of the Devonshire Civic Association and I am going to try and do something about this and other related issues. I have already sent an email to our City liaisons (Dick Graham - City Liaison, Officer Scott Clinger - CPD Precinct 18 Liaison, Dave Paul - President NCC and Judge Harland Hale - City Environmental Court) on this establishment and I wait to hear back from them early next week. If you have any information regarding this or other issues in the neighborhood, please contact me at (614) 329-1212 or via email and of course CPD at (614) 645-4545.
I have lived in this area for over 40 years and I am getting sick and tired of these neighborhood “bars” allowing drugs, thugs and “bad people” in general to come in to our neighborhood and ruin our quiet existence! The neighborhood association should be able to shut these dives down. All the owner is intrested in is the bottom line. Money, Money, Money. Certainly not the safety of his employees. I hear he doesn’t even show up for the evening shifts and leave his employees to fend for themselves. He wouldn’t even talk to the local TV stations. Keep turning a blind eye and see what happens next!!!! Get rid of the Bar or change the ambiance and make it the way it used to be, a nice quiet neighborhood bar where anybody could stop in for a drink and conversation not a Drug Den!
that place has become a thug haven now.
My heart goes out to everyone affected by this shooting. I lived across the road from Crabby Tom’s (formerly Gables Lounge) for more than a decade, and my husband and I spent many an evening in the back patio area where this incident took place. I’m grateful that no one was seriously injured.
