Local Cities Use Twitter To Interact

Cities are joining Twitter to increase visibility and to interact with residents and area businesses.

CENTRAL OHIO—Central Ohio cities, such as Dublin and Westerville, are using Twitter accounts to interact with residents and area businesses.

Municipalities see it as a new way to raise awareness about community events, traffic issues and/or construction projects.

Event Planner Davin Leigh said he thinks it’s a good way for Dublin to get the word out about arts-and-entertainment events that can draw people into the city from outlying areas.

Dublin police and Columbus police also are on Twitter.

Columbus city council is tweeting, too. It’s a new tool the cities are using, hoping to attract as many followers as possible.
