Patrol Arrests 3 In Vending Machine Thefts

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio—The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a West Virginia family has been arrested in the theft of money from vending machines at highway rest stops in southeastern Ohio.

The Patrol said Wednesday that a couple and their 21-year-old son were pulled over and arrested Wednesday after being seen on a surveillance video leaving a rest stop on Interstate-77 in Guernsey County. Their names have not been released pending theft charges expected to be filed on Thursday.

Police say the thefts began in August 2008 along Interstates 70 and 77. Police say several tools used to break into the machines were found in the family’s vehicle, along with cash and coins.

The family is being held without bond at the Guernsey County Jail.
