Widow’s Murder In 1994 Shook Ohio Neighborhood

COLUMBUS, Ohio —The family of a death row inmate in Ohio wants nothing to do with his appeal for clemency.

Lawrence Reynolds Jr. is scheduled to die by lethal injection Thursday for the 1994 killing of Loretta Foster, who lived three doors down in their Cuyahoga Falls neighborhood.  Reynolds’ brutal crime shattered the victim’s family and tore apart his own.  Foster was a 67-year-old widow who was like a grandmother to children in the neighborhood. Prosecutors say Reynolds killed her because he was out of work and needed money to fuel his alcohol addiction. He left her house with $40 in cash.

Lori Reynolds of Akron says she remains so upset by the murder that she hasn’t spoken to her older brother since his arrest 15 years ago.  The state Parole Board recommended that Strickland not grant mercy.
