A valuable pet is stolen from a local pet store, and the managers are worried about the bird’s health.
COLUMBUS, Ohio—A local parrot was snatched from its perch Saturday, and the bird’s health is at risk.
NBC 4 reported with the FAST FACTS Monday.
Rupert the macaw got a lot of customer attention at the Petland store on South Hamilton Road on the city’s Southeast Side.
Rupert is worth almost $3,000, and an employee said a group of four young males grabbed the bird, stuffed him under a one of their coats and fled the scene.
“You can imagine how stressful it could be for a bird to be stuffed in a coat and rushed out to a car in cold weather,“ Petland General Manager Brian Chan said.
Chan said stress and cold weather are dangerous threats to macaw’s life.
Anyone with information on Rupert’s whereabouts or the crime was encouraged to call CPD at 614-645-4545.
