Woman Accused Of Beating Fawn To Death
Fawn Beaten To Death
An Ohio woman is accused of beating a fawn to death with a shovel.EUCLID, Ohio—Resident Dorothy Richardson, 76, said she was defending herself when she beat to death a 25-pound fawn that was crouched in her flower bed, then stuffed the fawn’s body in a cardboard box and put it out on trash day.
A widow, she said she has been defending her garden against deer for years and this time took a shovel and beat the fawn until it died.
She said the fawn’s eyes contacted hers, like he was going to jump and bite her head off.
Euclid City Councilman Christopher Gruber says Richardson told him something different.
Gruber says Richardson said she hit it once and, according to her, it screamed and she hit it two more times, then she said that what she wanted to do was put it at the end of the yard so the other deer know not to mess with her.
Gruber is now a witness in the animal abuse case against Richardson. If convicted, she faces up to 60 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

redjill…your comments are disturbing to me. a baby deer is not a pest. if she really wanted to “shoo it away” she could have used a broom and gently scared it away. you are also ignoring the comment she made to the neighbour about wanting to “drag it to the curb so the other deer know not to mess with me.“ children are both nuisances AND pests…do you argue we should be able to beat them to death with a shovel??
This is disgusting that a person could do this to anything. This was a baby, not an adult deer. When it screamed, she finished it off? There is something wrong with this woman and she should be tended to so this does not happen again, perhaps even to a child sitting in her flower bed.
Grow up
I would love to have a conversation with this nasty old woman and make her watch films if animal abuse. She should be ashamed of herself. If she doesn’t like country living and having animals in and around the area, then they should put her in a nursing home after jail. Sad thing is, there are so many others like her in this world. If they are that terrible to poor, defenseless animals, imagine what kind of disrespect they have for other human beings.
This woman is SICK and so is any other person that beats, kills, etc. animals. This defenseless animal was not harming her in any way, it was laying in her garden and she should have called animal control to have them deal with the situation humanely. She should be compared to that POS fire fighter. They should both go to jail. They are nasty, sick individuals with no respect for living things.
Are you all being serious? The woman - 76 years old - was protecting what was more than likely a very precious part of her life - her garden - something she worked hard and daily to create and maintain. You are berating her for eliminating a scourge that is over-populated in the Central Ohio area. I amy agree that the viciousness was uncalled for - but to charge a human being for pest control is absurd.
THAT IS SO SAD. SHE NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON,LIKE DOING TIME IN TAKING CARE OF INJURERED WILDLIFE.OF COUSE NEVER LEFT ALONE WITH THE ANIMAL.I WOULD NEVER TRUST HER WITH MY CHILD,IF THAT IS HOW SHE TREATS BABY ANIMALS.
comparing her to the man that tied his animals up and shot them repeatedly…..wow. I have to disagree on that one, she may be a little off her rocker, but she didn’t go searching for an animal to abuse.
meh.
Mike you are absolutely right on. I would have to say it’s the best comment I have read on here. Seems to me that most of the people posting on here don’t take anything serious. Everything is a big joke.
