South-Western City Schools Makes Promises For Levy Passage

GROVE CITY, Ohio—Officials from South-Western City Schools are trying something new to gain support for Issue 2, a four-year, 8.3-mill operating levy.

Officials have written a contract with the community and it’s posted on their Web site. The contract includes things like saving money and improving scores on state report cards.

Sandy Nekoloff with the South-Western City School District says it’s no longer business as usual and a contract with the community was written up to show transparency.

It lists four goals and 12 objectives. The district says if voters pass Issue 2, they will make the money last until 2013.

dman1972 You speak the truth. The only reason SWCS is in the financial position that they are is that they give out meritless raises to teachers and administrators that have only achieved 16 of 30 reqiurements. They blackmail the community every time they come out for a levy and blame us residents for the choices they make.I know no one that makes anywhere from 48,000 to 80,000(for teachers) and a ridiculous 117,000 for principals(administrators),fully paid health, dental and optical for 9 months of 7 hour days.
We cannot sustain this level of compensation when everyone is struggling to keep their jobs(if lucky enough to be employed)and their homes. These employees of ours(SWCS)are insatiable. They lack a conscience, blaming the community for being too selfish to give them more.
Excuse us if we want to eat,put clothes on our children and roofs over their heads.THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS to have such a great job/benefits and make some sacrifices yourselves to the community that pays you SO WELL.Cut your pay.Contribute to your healthcare costs like the rest of us and your fellow teachers won’t have to be laid off.
Especially STOP once and for all these underhanded tactics of blaming us for your GREED.You’ve divided our community between the “haves” and “have nots” for the last time. You’re making enemies of those that would’ve supported you by doing this-WE ALL SEE IT FOR WHAT IT IS-BLACKMAIL.

dman1972 Amen. It’s time that students start learning what they need to know to be productive citizens instead of relying on a pipe dream of sports. It’s time they start learning the hard facts of life. Not everything is handed to you on a silver plater. You have to work hard to get what you want or need and sometimes that is not anough, but you deal with it. Only a small percentage get lucky enough to get scholarships. Most will be joining the workforce if there are any jobs left, pay taxes and try to put a roof over your head and food on the table. Not everyone is so fortunate.

They promise alright…...

To bring stretched thin, fixed income retirees to their knees with even higher taxes than what’s already being paid out

To come back to us the voters again in about two years to ask for another levy passage

To keep putting failed levies back on the ballot after repeatedly being told no by the voters

To keep using the kids as their leverage and guilt trip in a desperate attempt at passage of this sham

And last but not least, to keep padding their own wallets and giving themselves lucrative benefits and pay increases, all the while everyday people are losing pay, if not thir jobs, along with either lost or higher costing benefits.

Now here’s our promise. We promise to shoot this levy down a third time, and maybe we can shove it so far up Bill Wise’s rear end, that it will never see the light of day again.
